Peace Lutheran Church of Lake Zurich, Illinois is member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and a Christian church for the entire family. Through our worship and ministry, we offer the Gospel of Jesus Christ, friendships, a place to care and be cared for, celebration and hope, and opportunities for growth in faith in Jesus Christ. Our services feature traditional hymns with an emphasis on examining Jesus’ role in your life. We believe that God is constantly calling and gathering people into a growing community of believers. We are committed and called to invite people like you to join us in growing with God and with each other as an active member of this congregation.

Prints of Peace – September 18th, 2016

  • Thank you, all who came to our Rally Day celebration last week. The weather was perfect, the food was good, and our friends and family all had a good time.
  • Confirmation classes will continue to be held on Wednesdays from 7-8:15pm. Our 2016-2017 year will begin this week on Wednesday, September 21st!
  • Senior High Youth Group Kick-off: Our first event of the year will take place today, Sunday, September 18th! We will be going to Congo River mini-golf in Hoffman Estates and then out for ice cream! Please be at Peace by 6pm and be ready for a competitive evening! Parents: Another driver who is over the age of 21 is needed for this event. If you can help, please contact Tracy McClure.
  • Oktoberfest: Pot-luck and fire pit September 24, 4:30pm: Family Pot Luck continues with Oktoberfest theme!  Plan on a fire and an evening on the Patio. BYOB. Please bring outdoor seating, a German/Oktoberfest themed dish to pass and any outdoor activities that may be fun. Contact Cathy Malloy with any questions or concerns.
  • LifeSource Blood Drive on Sunday, September 25th: Did you know that every two seconds, someone needs blood? Please come out and help donate between 7:00 am and 1:00 pm in the LifeSource van that will be conveniently located in our church parking lot! Thank you for helping to save a life and making a difference in our community. Contact Sandy Hanna or Jean Foltin with any questions you may have.

Prints of Peace – September 11th, 2016

  • We will commemorate the 15th anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11 at both services. We will also bless backpacks at each service — so make sure your student brings their backpacks with them. Then after the 10:30 service, at about noon, we will share our annual picnic. We will be hosting any LZ first responders that are on duty and available to make it.

  • Feed My Starving Children: Our next trip to FMSC is Saturday, September 17 from 9-11. Please join us as we help save the world! Sign up in the narthex. Questions, please call Amy Anderson 847-338-6262.

  • Home of the Sparrow: Thank you to all who participated in the clean-up event last Sunday. We accomplished many tasks and really made an impact on the lives of others. Thank you for sharing God’s love! Please stop by and view the pictures in the narthex.

Their mission is to collect and distribute gently used children’s books to significantly increase “Book Ownership” among at risk infants, toddlers and school-age children throughout Chicagoland! You can sign up at http://berniesbookbank.org/volunteer/. You can also drop off gently used books in a box located in the narthex. Please take a flyer as a reminder! Thank you.

  • “Folk Rock Jam Night” to benefit Home of the Sparrow — Friday, August 26th at 7:00 p.m.  Join our former Youth Director Michelle Lusmann and John Trumbull, as they host a fundraiser concert for Home of the Sparrow women’s shelter.  Come to The Listening Room at The Dole Mansion in Crystal Lake, where you’ll enjoy toe-tapping performances by local favorites “Corner Boys” (along with several talented acoustic guitarists and singers) performing the music of James Taylor, John Denver, Harry Chapin, Dan Fogelberg, and The Beatles.  Cash bar / no admission charge / donations welcomed.  Questions?  Contact John Trumbull at 847-778-5763 or JohnDNA@att.net
  • The Members Team invites you and your family to Peace’s annual picnic on Sunday September 11th at noonThe theme this year is Cave Quest. We’ll have games and activities and of course yummy food!   • Habitat for Humanity: Thank you to all members and friends of Peace who participated in the Build Day on August 6th. It was great day and a blessing to help others. Please stop by and see the pictures posted in the narthex.
  • Bernies Book Bank: Family and friends are encouraged to volunteer at Bernies Book Bank located in Lake Bluff, IL.   • Vacation Bible School is coming up, Aug 8th – 12th! We are so excited about “Cave Quest — Following Jesus, The Light of the World.” Registrations and sign-ups are on the VBS table in the Narthex. Invite friends, neighbors, and classmates to join us.
  • VBS Crew Volunteers Needed! We are in need of junior high and high school students to serve as VBS Crew leaders! Sign-up is located in the Narthex; please consider joining in on a fun-filled week! Any questions? See Natalie Trumbull or Tracy McClure.
  • August 7 is our next Manna Card order date. Lori Schwartz will send out an email the week before orders are due so you can take a look at businesses that offer manna cards. As always, the money we receive through manna cards goes to help our high school mission trip offset costs associated with their trip. This year’s mission trip will be to Oklahoma! Any questions, please contact Lori.

  • Lutheran Social Services of Illinois is having their annual school supply drive through the beginning of September. They have need for a wide variety of school supplies, from pre-K through high school. Bring items to the Narthex, and place them in the appropriate bins.

     

Alpine Fest Parade 2016 – Tomorrow!

Come join the members and friends of Peace Lutheran Church and walk in the Alpine Day Parade on Sunday, July 17th! All ages are welcome! We will be handing out t-shirts for those folks who march in the parade to wear. It is a fun experience and this year we are promoting our Vacation Bible School Theme: Cave Quest. We have 1,000 freezie pops to be handed out with info attached on VBS and our worship schedule. It is a great way to show folks what Peace Lutheran Church is all about! 

Line up at 10:30a in Paulus Park. Even if you can’t walk with us, do cheer us on from the sidelines. Parade kickoff is at 11:30a. See you there!

  • Last week, we welcomed 8 new members into our Peace congregation! Welcome!
  • Vacation Bible School is the second week of August, from the 8th until the 12th. Registration continues through July 17th, so be sure to get your registration forms in! We also continue to need volunteers. Call Natalie Trumbull or talk to her on Sunday.
  • High School Youth Bake Sale: We will be having our second bake sale fundraiser for our mission trip on Sunday, July 10th….BAKERS ARE NEEDED! If you can help supply baked goods, please contact Tracy at tracy@peacelutheranlz.com.
  • Next Saturday on the Patio: Join us Saturday, July 9 at the Fire Pit at 4:00 p.m. for our next gathering. All are invited. We will start with a short spiritual time led by Pastor Mark. Bring a dish to share. BYOB wine and beer are permitted for this event.
  • Manna Cards: Next order date is August 7th.

BBQ at Our New Fire Pit

  • Next Sunday, May 29, begins our summer schedule for worship with one service at 9:00 a.m. through Labor Day weekend.
  • HS Youth Group: Our final meeting before summer will be today, May 22nd at 7pm.

  • “My Father’s Love” is a compelling story of one man’s faith, and God working through his craftsmanship. The marquetry of Ed Lantzer is on exhibit through June 2nd at Fould’s Gallery at 420 E. Church Street in Libertyville.
